UL Certified and FM Approved

UL/FM Nozzle Inserts have flow characteristics about equal to those of the 30 inch long playpipe. The UL Nozzle Insert adds an extra layer of safety because with no soldered or brazed connections to wear out with age, it will never come apart during a flow test. Both sizes are Underwriter's Laboratories Certified and Factory Mutual Approved for flow rate accuracy. Each one is about 3 ½” long and weigh only about a half pound. You simply slide the nozzle insert into the inlet of the 2 ½” Hose Monster. The hose threads in on top of it.

UL/FM Nozzle Insert™ 1-3/4"

• Approved for flow rates between 282 GPM and 771 GPM
• Pitot readings between 10 PSI and 75 PSI

UL/FM Nozzle Insert™ 1-1/8"

• Approved for flow rates between 118 GPM and 324 GPM
• Pitot readings between 10 PSI and 75 PSI
• Use the 1 1/8” Nozzle insert when there is the need to read flow rates in the 250 GPM range (or lower). This will be used for smaller pumps and for roof-top standpipe tests that flow more than one standpipe.

How many do I need?
Generally plan on one 1 ¾” UL Nozzle Insert per Hose Monster. But this will vary based on individual job conditions.

Nozzle Coupling

The UL/FM Nozzle Coupling can be connected directly to a 2 1/2" test header valve or hydrant nozzle. In that application a hand-held pitot would be used to take readings.

The Nozzle Coupling is stocked in NST. Other thread options are available. Please provide us with thread specification. Special orders can take up to six weeks.

Warning:
We recommend that this configuration be used only on fixed structures such as a hydrant outlet or a pump test header. Never use on the end of a hose. The thrust produced by flowing water through the nozzle can cause injury or death as well as property damage.
