Dear Fred,

We would like to take a moment and let you know how pleased we are with the fire pump testing equipment we purchased from Hydro Flow.

The Hose Monsters have improved the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of the fire pump performance tests we do. Wince we test hundreds of fire pumps each year, we really appreciate the improved productivity the Hose Monsters afford us. We are especially pleased with the quality of this equipment. We have used the Hose Monsters for over three years, and they have performed extremely well with very little maintenance required.

We at Valley appreciate the great relationship we have had with Hydro Flow and will continue doing business with you for many years to come.

Sincerely,
Thomas L. Hartel

Hoffmann-LaRoche Inc., Nutley, NJ.

Denise,

I just finished using the Mini "Hose Monster" that you kindly sent me. I performed the 2" sprinkler main drain flow test here at the Hoffmann La Roche Inc. Nutley, N.J. site. I used the Mini " Hose Monster" by hooking a 2 1/2" fire hose line from the main drain outlet on the outside of buildings that I was required to keep the flowing water away from the building. This is due to the water seeping back into the building at the foundation, causing a problem inside with water going and settling onto the floors. I performed this operation with myself and another person. I was inside at the riser opening the main drain and taking the riser readings. The other person was outside to watch the flowing water from the "Hose Monster". We put 2 sand bags as you suggested on top of the hose near the "Hose Monster". There was little movement at that area. We then did it with out the sand bags and the "Hose Monster" was very stable with little movement. Note: We have 2 fire pumps in our closed looped fire water system. When performing the main drain flow test the pump and some times both pumps come on.

I find the Mini "Hose Monster" a very valuable tool for performing this testing. I am glad that you had one available for me to use and test. Glad Fred showed it to me at the 2003 Indy FDIC. I will be attending the 2004 Indy FDIC. All your products that I have used are top quality and perform at the highest quality. From the gauges, valves, 2 1/2" " Hose Monster" with built in Pitot and inserts that I have purchased over the years.

Here is some of the testing that I have used the 2 1/2" " Hose Monster" for: Hydrant flushing, Hydrant flow testing capacity test, annual fire pump flow testing, and Standpipe/ hose station flow testing from the roofs of buildings here at the plant.

I also know that when every I call for help or need a question answered I talk to a person, you Denise and not a machine. You will have the answer or will find it out for me. You Denise and Fred and your families have a Happy Thanksgiving and a good holiday season. Will talk to you soon. Thank you very much for your help.

Best personnel regards,

Fred and Denise

Thanks so much for all the help with the TrackOne program. You both are great to have on the other end of the line when we have problems. I'm not a computer programer, but with your help I can feel like one. The program is working great now and it will save us a lot of man hours this summer. It's also going to tell us where we have problems in our system. Thanks again and if you need a reference feel free to use us as a satisfied customer!

Fred H. Grenning
President
Hydro Flow Products, Inc.

Mr. Grenning,

It was a pleasure to meet you at the NFPA Exposition in May 2002. At that time I expressed satisfaction with the Hose Monster that we use for our hydrant flow testing. I would like to take a moment and elaborate on that topic.

Use of the Hose Monster has allowed us as a small fire department to safely test our hydrants efficiently and effectively. The design of the Hose Monster allows us to direct the water flow away from traffic and sensitive landscaping. This feature proved priceless when I had to test a hydrant at the busiest intersection in the jurisdiction.

The hydrant broke in the open position and was not able to be closed for nearly twenty minutes. Traffic was not interrupted at all, since the stream had been redirected through the Hose Monster with a short length of hose. Imagine what the results would have been with a pitot test and the water stream projecting into the intersection!

The HM also takes the difficulty out of flow calculations that are associated with pitot readings. This reduces the amount of training required to teach and perform those calculations.

Because of the ease with which the Hose Monster can be used we are able to maintain better flow data on the water distribution system. The Hose Monster can be utilized in such a timely manner that we actually flow less water overall, much to the pleasure of our public works department.

Thank-you for such a useful product.

Sincerely,
Charlie Marble

TrackOne™ and the 2002 Winter Olympics

PARK CITY, UTAH - Ken Mitchell was attending a water symposium last year when he stumbled upon an ideal solution. As water department manager for Park City, Utah, site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Mitchell had his work cut out for him. With the eyes of the world on his city, the water system must be flawless. Plaguing him was the antiquated system they were still using to track work orders for fire flow testing.

"I discovered TrackOne™, and it just seemed to solve a lot of our problems. The software totally automated our paper-based system. Once it creates the work orders and we complete the readings, we just plug in the numbers and the software calculates the pressures for us. It's an amazing tool," Mitchell says. "We're definitely more efficient than ever before."

Mitchell was also struck by the simplicity of learning and implementing the TrackOne software. "It's very user-friendly, and any time we have a question, Fred and Denise are fantastic with technical support."

At the very least, next year's skiers, skaters and bobsledders can be confident of the critical water system supporting their events.

Just wanted to thank you again for how you handled the situation with my hose and gate valve. You definitely went above and beyond what I would have expected, and in a society where customer service is getting less and less important. You deserve to be commended.

Thanks again,

Simi Valley Sees The Value of Track One™

Simi Valley, CA - Just over a year ago, Chip Townsend, Water Department Assistant Manager for Simi Valley, was leafing through Water & Wastes Digest one afternoon when an ad for TrackOne™ caught his eye. "I was looking for a piece of software that included a database for doing queries, and I also wanted a Windows-based product," Townsend recalls.

Simi Valley, touted as one of the nation's safest cities, is also one of the fastest growing. Townsend and a staff of six manage over 3000 hydrants in their system, and when Townsend implemented TrackOne™, he noticed a 30% reduction in man hours. "The main function we use is the fire flow testing, but the reporting capabilities of this software are my favorite aspect. The water usage report is really helpful, calculating our water loss.

The ease of use has also reduced the learning curve on TrackOne™ for Simi Valley's water municipality. "I have a new employee who just started working on it and picked it up in just 10 minutes," Townsend boasts, "but the technical support is outstanding and always there if you need it."

Laramie Fire Department

Fred,

I am writing to commend Denise of your Customer Service Department. I was most impressed with her dedication and follow through with regard to our order and making sure we received the pitot repair instructions and return authorization for our damaged pitot.

While I realize that her function is to provide “customer service”, there are many levels of dedication to the term. Denise exemplifies what the term is intended to mean and she provides that service with a positive attitude that is evident both on the phone and via e-mail. I just want you to know that you have a good employee who takes pride in her work and represents your company in the best manner possible.

Safe-Accurate-Fast-Efficient (S.A.F.E.)

With encroachment on adjacent buildings a concern as well as pedestrian and vehicle traffic, discharge water must be contained and controlled; these provide this.

Human error with proper positioning of a hand-held pitot and it's accuracy when standing in a stream of water always questionable; these eliminate this.

Water is a valuable resource and wasting water is just plain unacceptable, especially these days with droughts and water purveyors concerned about dirty water calls, sewage charges and drainage; these provide for constant pressure monitoring to insure reaching and reading your required pitot pressure quick and easy.

Your test is only as good as your equipment and expertise. I've never met a fire pump that can't be tested in accordance with Code in 4 flow points in 30 minutes; churn, 50%, 100% and 150%. Efficiency is measured by a combination of speed and accuracy. Once you know what you want to achieve in quantity of nozzles, sizes and pitot pressures you begin your test. As you achieve each required setpoint and record your variables, you move to the next until complete.

By controlling discharge, monitoring discharge and expeditiously and efficiently performing a complete forward flow test with these devices, there is no better setup I have seen or used that's better.

(That's an endorsement, if you didn't get the hint)

Town of Paradise, California

We here at Paradise Fire Department are making good use of our recently acquired "Hose Monster." Aka as "HM." We have been using it practically everyday and all I hear back from the troops is "We are impressed!"

As you know we have a very unique water distribution system with many "Hot hydrants" to deal with. I flowed one of them recently with a pitot reading of #72, (that's 2809 gpm) and old "HM" just layed right where we put him and the water went where we wanted it to go.

We also like the fact that it is easy to hook up and we can get all the readings from the hydrant we are flowing.

IT'S A GREAT TOOL!

Respectfully
R. J. Hanner
